This journey of barter and sharing represents a chronicling of our collective times, touching upon ideas of home, identity and belonging, socio-political shifts, conflict and fragmentation, ecological grief, otherness and oneness, and also beauty and resilience of the universe – these and other subjects have connected with the momentous pulse of living and brought artists together under narratives proposed by various curators and writers across the decade.

At the forefront of the discussion is human experience, highlighting differences in perspectives on the one hand, and on the other, celebrating similarities and mirroring common contemporary realities. The artists present a personal and cultural gaze on their surroundings, giving us glimpses of both intimate spaces and the complex world at large.

Viewing the prints curated within the ten portfolios, we encounter diverse expressions as well as techniques of printmaking. The archive of ten years (2013-2022) is put together under each annual theme viz. Untitled, Indigestible, Fear: Horror|Terror, Breaking News, Homeland, Micro/Macrocosm, A Voice To A Voice, Double Vision, Threshold, and the current compilation One World, as each portfolio is a result of meticulous organisation, vetted by curators, and bringing together the best of every year’s submissions. Each “box” celebrates the craft of printmaking and the artist’s innate ideas. It might look uniform because of the management of the shape and size for global transport and display, but look closer, and you are drawn into vastly dissimilar spaces.

IPEP India has been an inclusive platform, which has garnered a large number of opportunities for artists to show their work together globally – whether young and experienced, recognised, or unknown- breaking boundaries of geography, culture, beliefs, gender, and race. In making the Exchange a primary driver of creative action, and building a cross-cultural network of printmakers, this platform now constitutes part of a new and evolving art history.

यह सफर एक आदान प्रदान के कहानियों की पोटली है जो घर, पहचान, अस्तित्व, सामाजिक बदलाव, नैसर्गिक नाश, एकात्मता,वैश्विकता, सौंदर्य अनुभूति जैसे भिन्न विषय कलाकारों को जोड़ती है। अनेक लेखक, क्यूरेटर (कला संयोजक) के प्रस्ताव पर प्रतिसाद देते हुए जागतिक स्तर पर कलाकारों ने अपनी दास्तान इन छापों में भरें हैं।

द(र्)शक (२०१३-२२) के हर साल का एक अलग संग्रह नियोजित किया गया है जो विभिन्न कलाकारों के व्यक्तित्व और दृश्य भाषा का अनुसरण करती हैं। इन संस्करणों के नाम हैं – शीर्षकहीन, अपचनीय, डर: भय|आतंक, ब्रेकिंग न्यूज, होमलैंड, सूक्ष्म/स्थूल जगत, आवाज को आवाज, द्वी-दृष्टि, देहलीज़, एक विश्व।

दसवा संस्करण संयोग से जी-२० के बीज शब्द – “वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम” से जुड़ा है। हर संस्करण को साथ लाने के लिए कलाकारों द्वारा प्राप्त अर्जियों को संयोजकों द्वारा चुनाव कर मंगाया जाता है।

आईपीईपी इंडिया के स्टूडियो में एक विशेष बक्से में सारे कलाकारों का चित्रों का समिश्र संग्रह बनाकर दुनिया भर वापस भेजा जाता है जो अपने निजी स्तर पर इन चित्रों का प्रदर्शन करतें हैं और छापाकला के बारे में प्रचार करतें हैं।

आईपीईपी इंडिया एक ऐसा माध्यम बन चुका है जो किसी भी भाषा, जाती, धर्म, राष्ट्रीयता, भौगोलिक भेद इनसे आगे बढ़कर छापाकला के ज़रिए सारे विश्व को साथ सहिष्णुता और संवेदनशीलता के साथ एक करने का प्रयास कर रही है। और छापा कलाकारों को एक विशेष पहचान दिलाने का प्रामाणिक प्रयास कर रहा है।

आप सभी दर्शकों से निवेदन है की इस प्रयास से लाभान्वित हों और इस कला प्रकार को प्रचलित करने में हमारा साथ दें।

Two artists from the USA not only met each other but also exchanged their studios for a brief period. Even more amusing is that another one was inspired by IPEP India’s artist-run model to an extent that she started her own print exchange programme.

By far many of the participating artists have remained committed to the exchange policy of showing and promoting Printmaking in their communities internationally. This has led to activities of all sorts being held in India, USA, Italy, Australia, Spain and 20 other countries.

We are very proud and glad to count the one at Bihar Museum as our 100th.

अमेरिका के दो कलाकार न केवल एक-दूसरे से मिले बल्कि कुछ समय के लिए अपने स्टूडियो का आदान-प्रदान भी किया। इससे भी अधिक मनोरंजक बात यह है कि एक कलाकार आईपीईपी के कलाकार-चलित इकाई से इस हद तक प्रेरित हुईं की उन्होंने अपना खुद का एक प्रिंट एक्सचेंज शुरू किया।

अब तक भाग लेने वाले अधिकतम कलाकार अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर अपने समुदायों में प्रिंटमेकिंग को प्रदर्शित करने और बढ़ावा देने की विनिमय नीति के लिए प्रतिबद्ध रहें हैं। इसके चलते भारत, अमेरिका, इटली, ऑस्ट्रेलिया, स्पेन और २० अन्य देशों में कई तरह के कार्यक्रम आयोजित किये गए हैं।

बिहार म्यूजियम में आयोजित कार्यक्रम को हमारा १००वां गिनते हुए हमें बेहद गर्व और ख़ुशी है।
